History and archaeology - together or separate? Some remarks by a Medieval historian on the uses and misuses of history by archaeologists
Jacek Banaszkiewicz
The author discusses how archaeologists in Poland make use of the work of historians and vice versa, how Polish historians avail themselves of archaeological determinations for their own purposes. The author's conclusion is that there are no differences between the methods of the two disciplines, whether in the cognitive or the operational and intellectual sense. Both historians and archaeologists have to focus on reading sources and building visions in a manner adopted from experienced reality.
